ONLINE DATING: Phishing threat – fake ISAF webpage

Phishing threat – fake ISAF website

Online Investigations and CupidScreen are warning users of online dating sites to be aware of the latest phishing scam.   Scammers are posing on dating sites as military officers and claiming to be seconded to be ISAF / NATO.

During the grooming period, the scammer will encourage the victim to come and visit them overseas.  The scammer will then instruct the victim to visit a false website (hq.int.isaf-nato.org) where they will be required to complete a “Visitors Request form”.

After completion of the form the victim is then contacted via the scammers by email and requested to provide further personal details in order to undergo a fake ‘security check’ and pay an additional application fee.

Several fake email addresses connected to this scam have been identified as:

IJCvisitors@hq.int.isaf-nato.org

hq.isafnato@gmail.com

SC.Office@hq.int.isaf-nato.org

If you believe you may be a victim of this scam please contact your local Police.

For more information about our range of online dating background checks please refer to the CupidScreen website.
